R.E.D. Friday

The Chicago Heights Fire Fighters Union Local 711 would like to salute U.S. Navy Petty Officer Joseph Swanson, a local Chicago Heights resident, during his current deployment over seas. We also salute all of the other servicemen and servicewomen who are deployed in our nations armed services. Remember Everyone Deployed!

New Turnout Gear

For the first time in Chicago Heights Fire Department history, we were approved for a Turnout Gear Grant that would provide every member with a brand new full set of gear. This new gear will be used to replace any dilapidated or end of service life gear. Previously, every member was required to purchase and maintain their own gear.
Turnout (also known as 'bunker') gear is our frontline protection in structural firefighting. By keeping our crew members life safety a top priority we are able to maintain quality service to residents. This is a huge accomplishment for our department and we are extremely grateful!
We wanted to also provide a special thanks to Lt. Greg Taylor and now retired Capt. Kevin Lueder for their efforts in writing the application for the grant and other members of our Gear Committee that put in time and effort in arranging the acceptance, demo, ordering, delivery, and distribution of 62 sets of gear. GREAT WORK!
We will continue to work diligently to better our department in order to better our service to you! Thank you for your support!
